Proof that ISUck Has Pole Smokers on Their Team!

And seriously, cut the budget for the smoke machine and maybe you won't have to offer the "Applebee's mini Pack" to raise revenue.......just an idea.

4 of the Last 6

How many points does it take to beat ISU? 6 really, but 17 will do. And that's after spotting them 2 pity points on a safety!!!

Well the big game is over and I Have to say.....
HAWKEYE STATE!!!!!!

Despite the wet weather, IOWA and ISuck fans turned out in the thousands to watch IA pretty much dominate ISuck. So I beg the question to all you ISuck fans, is our defense that good or is ISuck just that bad?? In the days leading up to the game there was debate with ISuck fans about our defense. They claimed that IOWA's Defense was actually shit as yeah they have only let opponents score 3 points in the first 2 games but that those teams were pretty much the worst teams on the planet. Granted, i fully agree that Maine and FIU are not that good, but 3 points, come on. So now that Iowa has held it's opponents to a total of 8 points in its first 3 games what say thee ISuck??? Is IOWA's Defense still shit? If so then Shouldn't ISuck be compared in stature to the likes of Maine and FIU? Just sayin.

It was great to see Brodell out there doing what he does best......making plays!! all around not a bad game out of the Hawks, though the offense looks like it still needs alot of work. christensen made it back to the field, with out a storm of Booos following him by the way. Have to say I wasn't to happy to see him come out, but he did what he had to do which was not turn the ball over and move the ball. Good Job Jake (friendly good game pat on the ass for you!).

Tailgating on the other hand rocked. We stomped ISU in that also, no contest! Most took refuge under their I State canopy the whole time finding comfort in numbers and casting an uppity eye at all the Hawk fans getting hammered and enjoying the wet muddy mess along with some beer bat and beer goal kicking!! Hell there was even some good ol' scissor action going on (okay maybe not but a man can dream can't he?).

Wizard Staff!!!!

So if you are longtime reader of this blog first and foremost, Thank You. Second you might know from past posts that "We" like to tailgate and are always looking for new games and activities to pass the time.

I PRESENT TO YOU
WIZARD STAFF

A game that slowly made it way across the internet, but with no clear cut rules or guidelines. Until now!
Below are the rules we as a committee of drunken fools agreed on and established:

Wizard Staff rules:
1. Wizard Staff starts as soon as you step foot on the tailgating area, early bird gets the worm.
2. Each person drinks canned beer (12 oz. or 16oz. their choice)
3. Each can will be taped end to end with duct tape (twice around the can)
4. Any cans that fall off may not be re-applied with new duct tape, so make sure their on their good.
5. Every can represents a level. The more levels the more powerful the wizard.
6. A higher level wizard can instruct any lower level wizard to drink on command.
7. After every 2 levels a wizard may try for an achievement ( represented by different colored duct tape)
a. Only upon completion can the wizard receive his achievement tape, the tape must be put upon that level in which they attempted the achievement.
i. Any beers consumed during an achievement count towards your wizard staff levels
b. If wizard fails then they must drink a full beer (a new level) before they can re-try for the achievement)
ii. If a beer is used in the achievement this does not count as a penalty beer before re-trying the
achievement.
See achievements below
8. Achievements must be validated by another wizard.
9. The two highest level wizards come game time will then duel (ala fencing style first one to land a body
shot wins).
10. In the event of a tie (two wizards at the same level) the winner will be determined by amount of
achievements and if need be the levels at which they were achieved.

ACHIEVEMENTS
• Sing the fight song at the to of your lungs
• One tip a Tippie cup
• Shotgun a beer
• Beer bong a beer
• Beer bong two beers
• Upside down beer bong

I have to admit as a level 15 wizard with all my achievements, I was no match for a level 19 wizard with all his achievements. But I did give it my best shot and hopefully inspired Middle Earth to rise up and fight for all that is Good!
video
Poge = Level 19 Wizard, 6 Achievements
Brady = Level 15 Wizard, 6 Achievements
Magnet = level 14 Wizard, 6 Achievements
Burke = Level 12 Wizard, 5 Achievements

And So It Begins......

The 2008 Season kicks-off this Saturday at home against Maine. Yeah I know Maine doesn't sound to exciting, but for real Hawkeye fans, it's a big one. I for One want to put a hurtin on those Maine Bastards. Why Maine you ask, well I'm still a little bitter about that season ending loss to W. Michigan and nothing would make me feel better than to come out and lay the smack down on some Black Bears.

Here is a Preview of the match up and some STATS for comparison.

At least we don't open our season with a loss to a team whose mascot is a Jack Rabbit???

Good News Travels in Pairs!

Less than a week after Iowa received a much needed committment from Mt. Pleasants' Jordan Cotton, Iowa receives more good news regarding another highly touted in-state recruit.

Keenan Davis, a 6-3, 195 pound prospect out of Cedar Rapids, is a four-star prospect as rated by Scout.com and one of the top 20 receivers in the nation.

Davis and Cotton, both slated to play WR for Hawkeyes, offer IOWA a fearsome tandem for years to come.

WELCOME TO IOWA KEENAN, and GO HAWKS!!

We needed some good news!!

After what's been a month of nothing but grim news for IOWA athletics and the IOWA football team, Some good news rises from the ashes. Jordan Cotton has made his college decision, and he's heading to the University of Iowa.

"When I look it over, I can just see myself in Black and Gold, the relationship with the coaches is unreal.”

This news comes on the heels of a surprise defection of Iowa's First prize commit David Barrent, to Michigan State. News Hawkeye fans desperately needed in the wake of last month.

“I’m going to try and sway some guys to go to Iowa and everything,” he said. “Barrent did that with me, then he went and de-committed and committed to Michigan State. I’m not going to do that, de-commit and everything. I’m set with Iowa, I’m just going to try and get some of the other guys to get to Iowa.”

Welcome to the Hawkeye family Jordon, we look forward to the next 4-5 years!!

GO HAWKS!!!

Apparently the nickname the "Cyclowns" has some truth to it??

Apparently a B.S. in Clowning is a very popular major at ISU, as a degree from ISU itself is quite the joke to be begin with.

Moment of Nostalgia

So I came across this article recently that I had saved from our 2007 trip down to K.C. for the Iowa vs K-State game. Have to say I really miss the Hawkmobile!

Sea of purple floods Arrowhead

Topeka Capital-Journal, The, Aug 27, 2000 by Chris Grenz Capital-Journal

From 'The Cat Flat' to a Hawkeye-mobile, college football fans ring in new season.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Arrowhead Stadium is known as a very loud, very red place to play football.

On Saturday, that reputation was only half right.

The 77,148 fans at the nearly sold-out stadium were definitely loud, but as thousands of Kansas State University fans traveled to the home of the Kansas City Chiefs to watch the No. 8 Wildcats take on the unranked University of Iowa Hawkeyes, most of the stadium was transformed into a sea of purple and white.

The Hawkeyes and Wildcats both opened their seasons Saturday during the third annual Eddie Robinson Football Classic under mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s. K-State won 27- 7.

Like the seats of Arrowhead, the parking lot during the hours before kickoff was filled with the purple of the Wildcat faithful.

Take Jason Rothwell's gargantuan tailgating contraption for example. Rothwell, a 1996 K-State alumnus who owns a Manhattan landscaping business, converted a Ford F-350 into a deck on wheels. With the help of his friends, he built a wooden deck above the flatbed of his pickup. He calls it "The Cat Flat."

"They made the white lines so close together in the parking lot (at the K-State stadium) that we just couldn't spread out, so we weren't having too much fun tailgating off the back of my pickup," Rothwell said, explaining why they built the elaborate rolling deck, which he said can hold up to 40 people on top and another 15 on the bed. "We figured, well, if we can't go out, we'll go up."

Saturday was the vehicle's first away game, and Rothwell said he was excited to have his favorite team play at Arrowhead.

"This is great," he said. "It's all purple. We've pretty well taken over the joint."

Across the parking lot, Jim Skach was sharing sandwiches with his family and friends beside his full-size van that was plastered with purple signs. The stereo was cranked and the K-State fight song blared from inside.

"We played the fight song all the way up," said Skach, of Wichita.

Skach, a K-State alumnus who has two children attending the university, said he was a big fan of the Arrowhead opening game.

"I think they ought to do it every year," he said. "In fact, I think they should do it twice this year. It's awesome!"

Carla Yost was one of several hundred people who were under large tents during pre-game parties. Yost, of Salina, was also enthusiastic about the Wildcats playing in the Chiefs' stadium.

"It's terrific," she said as she munched on a brownie. "It gets a lot of fans out, and we can root for K-State. On opening day, it's especially good."

K-State fans weren't the only ones who got carried away with their team colors. There were Iowa colors inside and out of Arrowhead as well. In one parking lot pocket of Hawkeye gold and black, a group of Iowa students had traveled to Kansas City in a four-door sedan customized with house paint and elbow grease.

Kory Brady, the gold and black car's 23-year-old owner, said they were thrilled to travel to Arrowhead.

"I love it!" he screamed as his college pals cheered around him. "It's awesome --- even though we're Minnesota Vikings fans."

Brady and his 21-year-old brother, Keith Brady, agreed the K- State fans they had met were pretty nice. But they had to admit there were a lot of them.

"Last time I saw this much purple and white," Keith Brady said, "I was at a wedding."

Bradyness

So, I've always loved crafty t-shirts and even more the opportunity to design them. So I've decided to try and design a few t-shirts every month and try to sell them on CafePress.com.

Since I'm not a business owner and don't have the time to run a T-shirt business I thought using cafe press would be a great way to get some of my design and humor skills out there and possibly turn a buck on them. So if you get a chance check out my store:
I'll try to come with a few new T-shirt ideas a month so check it often and if you want drop me some suggestions, I'll see what I can come up with. There's one up there now that's not necessarily a new idea, but at least my own new design. Figure what better way to show ones pride in their state (plus I've been trying to buy one online for awhile now and can't find it anywhere).

Hut-Hut-BAGS!!

What happens when you mix Beer, grilling out, a nice day and your average game of BAGS? Well if you don't know us then you'd probably assume nothing. But if you do know us then you know we're always on the look out for new tailgating games, and also know that we have our best ideas while drinking!!

I present to you for your enjoyment, from the makers of Tippie Cup, Turbo Tippie Cup, Edward Good Forty-Bad Forty hands, Big Puuussssy and the Beer Pinata...............

HUT-HUT-BAGS!!!!

video video

Rules:
Pretty much just like normal bags, but a few minor changes.
1. All bags are thrown from the same side (teams can consist of 1-4 players).
2. Teams alternate throws.
3. 1 point for on the board, 3 points for in the hole, points cancel out.
4. first team to 11 wins.
HERE'S THE MINOR CHANGES....
5. Players must throw the bag between their legs from the long snapping position. Bag must rest on the ground when starting ones throwing motion.
6. Player must keep a Beverage in His/Her hand at all times and the beverage may not touch the ground during ones throw at anytime (until all bags you are responsible to throw have been thrown).
7. Player may not stand up from their long snap position until all their bags have been thrown (not even to check if a bag has landed on the board).
8. Players partner is responsible for informing them on the status of their bags (ON or OFF).
9. Falling over at anytime during ones throw results in loss of turn or any points that may have result from that throw. Also 1 point is added to the others team score.

The Cream of the Crop for ISU

So I constantly here from ISUck fans (many of which are ironically my friends) how Hawk fans are idiots and loud mouths and arrogant cockey trash. Mainly that every year we predict a big ten championship and 10 wins and talk about national championships. I agree there are some fool hearted Iowa fans out there and my response is always the same:

"The average everyday hawk fans expects to compete every year, finish in the top 3rd of the big ten and go to a bowl game. And Yes there are some idiots out there that do expect 10 wins and a BCS bowl every year, but that can be said about pretty much every other NCAA team
in the nation, including ISU
ck."

To this they quickly reply: "Well there are more Stupid arrogant Iowa fans than ISUck fans!"

Which makes sense when Iowa has double if not triple the fan base of ISUck, proportionally speaking. But I digress, ISUck fans love to point fingers, which is the pot calling kettle black in my opinion.

I submit to you exhibit A.

This is an actual thread posted on HawkeyeNation, which I adamantly nominate for biggest dipshit of the year post. Not because he doesn't make some valid points, but because a lot of those points have no bearing on the game at hand. But more importantly because this is the kind of crap that ISU fans bitch, whine and moan about Iowa fans doing all the while maintaining that they some how are absent of such behavior.

Iowa State will beat Iowa Again this year in FB and BB. Post Rating (7 votes)

I see the Iowa fans are at it again predicting Iowa to finish 8-4,9-3 or 10-2. Are you kidding me? Try 1-11 or 2-10. Iowa might beat Maine and Maybe FIU, but the other games, THEY WILL LOSE. Iowa State will thump them again this year. It will be like a 2005 or 1998 type beating. These are the reasons why.

1. History-Iowa State is 7-3 vs Iowa the last 10 years including 3-2 in Iowa City.
2. Coaching-Ferentz can't beat Iowa State. Iowa's Offense is slow, very predictable and lame. Iowa has no defense.
3. Iowa has no talent, because they are all in jail or kicked off the team or both. Iowa State has some talent (More then Iowa).
4. Iowa will be worse then last year, Iowa State will be better. Iowa will not go to a bowl. Iowa State will.
5. Iowa' s WR are slow, drop the ball a lot and not talented.
6. Iowa has no running game. Iowa State has experience and will run for 100+ yards against Iowa's sorry defense.
7. No Blythe, No Meyer=No Problem. Iowa DL can't pressure the QB and my 8th Grade Football Team I coach, could throw 300+ yards against Iowa's Pathetic DB's.
8. Yes Iowa State lost to Kent State, Toledo and UNI last year, but those 3 teams esp UNI would have beaten Iowa. Iowa lost to W. Michigan, LOL.
9. Kinnick Stadium is any easy place for a visiting team to win, just ask Indiana and W. Michigan.

My prediction for the Game is:

Iowa State 31
Iowa 3

Sorry Iowa fans but the Cy-Hawk Tropy will being staying in Ames. It will be there for a while. Iowa State should probably not even take the trophy to the game, because they will be bringing back to Ames afterward. Iowa State should use the extra room on the bus for the gallons of tears the Iowa fans will be crying after Iowa State thumps them AGAIN.

If you were to look at the rest of thread, you'd be pretty impressed with the logical and civil responses submitted by Hawk fans. And for the record most logical fans are predicting anywhere from 8 wins to 5 wins. No where have I seen anyone say more.

But really, no one is surprised by this 8th grade attempt at Billiness, it did come from an ISUck fan, probably one whose daddy didn't love him enough to buy him a Hawkeye T-shirt and instead bought him the $1.82 ISU T-shirt from the bargain bin at Goodwill.

Bottom line every team has Ass-clown fans.

But, you stay classy ISUck!!

4-Star In-State Recruit Chooses the HAWKEYES!!!

The 6-foot-8, 290-pounder from West Des Moines Valley High School is rated a 4-star prospect by Web site Rivals.com, and he is ranked 101st on the Rivals 250 list of the top high school seniors in the nation.

He had scholarship offers from Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern and Illinois. He said his decision came down to Michigan State, Illinois and Iowa.

"Barrent carries a 3.8 GPA and scored a 30 on his ACT. He plans to study engineering (point......IOWA). "

"I am done and I am 100 percent committed to Iowa." - Glad to have you on the good side David!!
